AAbout Me

The review panel of an application of mine to a Norwegian university once concluded that I have a “voracious scholarly appetite”—which I don’t think was meant in an entirely positive way, but I’ll go with it. Broadly speaking, I’m a media and cultural studies scholar researching horror, monstrosity, spatiality, and temporality, and intermediality in film, television, videogames, comics, and literature. My work explores how popular media engage with cultural anxieties—ecological, political, historical—through the symbolic and affective work of genre.
